Communicate your ID effectively with Ziki

In one of my last posts I claimed that one of Ziki’s most attractive services was the aggregation of your web presence to form a coherent ‘online ID’.
Here are some examples how to use your new ID card in order to communicate your profile effectively.

  • Your Ziki URL
Add your URL to your electronic signatures. Whenever you send an email, write a comment on a blog or communicate your web address in an inscription form, use the myZiki URL. It is composed as follows: my.ziki.com/your_username. Your readers and email contacts will get a quick and simple access to a summary of your profile through this URL.
  • Add your favorite contacts to your Ziki network
Ziki is not a typical social network as you might know it from websites like Facebook or LinkedIn. Ziki’s network is open and its first goal is to communicate on your own profile and interests through your contacts. The more contacts you add corresponding to the positioning you’d like to communicate, the better you will be shine out within Ziki’s internal search engines (on tag research for example) and external search engines.
  • Add feeds to your profile
By adding feeds to your profile, you can show to everyone what you are reading and communicate on your personal interest and preferencies. Import external feeds from websites you are visiting every day or sign up to feeds of other Ziki members.
  • Contribute to our blog
Ziki’s blogs, in English and French for the moment, are visited every day by a great number of members but also a lot of external visitors interested in people search, social networking and content aggregation. By adding comments to our blogs your Ziki may quickly become more visible - and thus, more often visited.

Let the others chose how to contact you

You’re getting more than 20 invitations from LinkedIn, FaceBook, iLike & co every day? You are not alone… More and more internet users complain about the great variety of online profiles on social networks they have to manage.
But I claim that there are still a far more people who have only one or two online identities activated.

Ziki’s not only made for both categories of users, it may also be a helpful link to bring them together. Let me explain…

Ziki allows you to aggregate all your different feeds within one page and let the others chose how they’d like to get in contact with you.
By that way, those who have a great number of specific profiles in every corner of the web become more visible for ’smaller’ users.
And those who prefer keeping on with only one or two websites can contact interesting profiles directly without signing up to the network themselves. They can simply access the contact’s profile through the interface of Ziki.

Ziki is playing the role of a social hub within a web becoming more and more complex to be overseen without external assistance. Thus, Ziki’s mission is also to decrease the virtual distance between profiles registered within different social networks.

Not a geek? Ziki’s made for you!

Aggregating web content is a need that may be more strongly felt by… you’re right… people who create web content or read it. You don’t write a blog and you never let comments on your friend’s or colleague’s blogs, you don’t bookmark your favorite web sites using del.icio.us and you think that RSS feeds are those dangerous animal nutrition products responsibe for the spreadth of bird flu? Don’t worry, Ziki’s (also) made for you!

Let me explain in three examples why Ziki can be useful for you, “web rookie”!

1) You are currently working in a company or looking for a job?
There are people out there, sometimes called head hunters, whose job it is to find precisely defined profiles on the labor market in order to make them a job proposal. If you don’t use Internet very often, they do. Because, if you want or not, Internet is getting the quickest, cheapest and most reliable method to obtain information about someone. Recruiters spend most of their time behind their computer screens in order to find what they are looking for.
On your Ziki you can use tags and the free search engine registration tool, to become visible for them. You don’t need to create web content to be on Ziki, just use it as a resume of your professional career.

2) You want to meet people who share your interests?
On Ziki you can make your private and professional interests visible through tags and the web links that you want to share. For instance, if you are the president of your village’s fly fishing association or expert in nuclear physics, show it on your Ziki by creating the appropriate tags in the “Descriptive keywords” section or by adding links to your favorite sites related to you interests and expertises.
Ziki will automatically identify those people who share your interests and show them up as “Similar Zikis”. You can visite their Ziki profiles by that way and, who knows, get in contact with people you already know or you’d like to know.

3) You are sending emails?
You are regularly using your professional and private email, I guess. Maybe you’ve even created an electronic signature for the emails you send. What about adding another line to this signature giving access to your public Ziki profile. Create a profile on Ziki and add the link “my.ziki.com/your_username” at the end of your signature. You will enable your contacts to get more information about you and your activities and interests. This feature can turn the usually rather distant email exchange into a more personal one and, thus, be extremely helpful.

Some other examples of using your Ziki could have been listed. We are trying hard to make Ziki useful for everyone and keeping it simple and accessible at the same time.

What’s your favorite Ziki feature? What’s your experience with Ziki in professional and private relationships?
